Deadman Springs

Deadman Springs is not far off Spring Canyon Road. The trail will go to the site of the actual springs that features a no longer functional stock reservoir. In the 1890's two old cowboys found a dead cowhand at the springs, hence the name. Parts of this trail were used about 20 years ago as the first parts of the Secret Spire trail. It has been configured to offer a nice, scenic four wheeling trip. Lunch has been planned for a large slickrock area where one can look across Spring Canyon back to the Secret Spire.

Scenery

The beginning of Spring Canyon, which is a huge drainage system, will be viewed. Deadman Springs are interesting, rock formations the Twins, Queens Rock, and DMS Waterfall are also visited.

Surface

There are some easy rock and dirt sections, occasional ledges, descents that demand the driver's attention, some slickrock and also sandy sections.

Trail Details

These lower rated, easier trails usually offer no named obstacles in their first few years of use. Participants usually show us what obstacles consistently offer problems, and eventually these places earn names. The names are often named after a participant or their vehicle that highlight to obstacle; will you be the one to name an obstacle on this trail?
