Eagle Canyon / Black Dragon
This trail explores the San Rafael Swell region west of Green River, UT. The route departs from the town of Green River on Interstate 70. After travelling on the highway for approximately 40 miles, the trail drops sharply into impressive Eagle Canyon. There will be a stop at historic Swasey Cabin following the climb out of the canyon, before meandering across Jackass Flats where sightings of wild burros are possible. The trail ends in a gradual descent into Black Dragon Canyon, before the final 13 mile highway return to Green River. Meet in Green River at the West Main Street Maverick for an 8:00 A.M. departure.
Scenery
The trail runs parallel to the course of Interstate 70 through the Swell, and offers a sampling of the diverse scenery of the region
Surface
Mostly hard dirt, some sandy canyon bottoms, a few rocky ledges, and approximately 60 miles of interstate pavement , must be able to travel at 65 to 70 miles per hour.
